

Þorrablót is an icelandic food-festival which takes place in the month of Þorri, according to the Old Icelandic Calendar, which starts in late January and ends in late February. These festivals were orginally held to honour the Norse god Þór, after whom the month is presumed to be named. Now Þorrablót is more of a tradition than a festival in honour of the the gods.
We will start with a lecture or stories about the Icelanders in english at 17:00 in Askja. After that we will taste some Þorra-food.
The Þorrablót food includes:
Putrefied shark, Testicles of rams, singed and boiled Sheep heads, head cheese or brawn made from sheep heads, Liver sausage, Blood suet - type of blood pudding, Wind-dried fish, Flat cake (Flatbrauð) & Smoked and boiled Lamb (hung meat).
For this event we will offer these delicacy along with some beer and wine to wash it down.
ATT: This event is only meant to be a taste-bud, not complete dinner.
Tickets will be sold:
Tuesday: University of Reykjavík from 11:00 to 12:30; University of Iceland from 13:00 to 14:30.
Wednesday: University of Iceland from 13:00 to 14:30.
Price: 900 ISK for ESN members in ticket sales; and 1.500 for others and at the door
